Travels With Cian

(an unauthorized autobiography)

I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on July 19, 1968 C.E. Not that you really care, but it is relevant to this tome, I suppose. I was adopted, therefore I am in the dark as to my true ancestry. Based on facial structures, and a penchant for sauerkraut and dark beers, I would say that I am, at least, part German. Likewise, due to my inexplicable attraction to bagpipes, Glen Livet, and Claymores, I suspect there might be some Scottish ancestry in the genetic soup, also. Okay, enough with physical attributes; on to the good stuff.

I have worked at many trades. I have been a dishwasher, a gas station attendant, a lift operator at a ski resort, a canvasser for a citizen's rights organization, a short-order cook, a farm hand, a ranch hand, an auto mechanic, a bicycle mechanic, a bicycle salesman, a store manager, a store owner, a webmaster, a web designer for accessIndiana, and currently as the owner of a web design / hosting / computer-building company; Forest Web Design. Not bad for 36, eh? I have lived in Indiana, Vermont, California, Colorado, and Wyoming. I currently reside in Greencastle, Indiana in a house built circa 1850. This is where I was raised; not just this town, but this house, also.

I have studied many paths. I was raised Baptist, which I forsook as soon as I became a sentient human being. I dabbled in other denominations of Christianity for a while before I started studying other alternatives. While in college, as a religion minor, I followed Transcendental teachings. Later, I tried Taoism, Confusionism, and Existentialism. Then, for a period of years, I abandoned all defined religions (or so I thought), and practiced Larry-ism. While playing around on my (ex-)roommate's computer in the late 1990s, I started searching for different things with search engines. When I entered witchcraft, I was directed to www.wicca.com, and ultimately, The Celtic Connection, their message board. I was amazed. There, in bright electronic letters, were discussions of what I had been practicing, unknowingly, for years! Initially, I followed the Wiccan path. After a short while, however, I decided that Wicca wasn't exactly what I was searching for. I delved deeper into the study of all things Pagan. At the end of my studies, not that I have stopped; merely paused, I decided that what I felt wasn't really addressed by any one Pagan path. Therefore, once again, I created my own. Which isn't to say that this is necessarily unusual; it's not. Most pagans, of whatever path; especially solitaries, are incredibly eclectic. Which brings us to my chosen path; Elemental Paganism. It also brings us to the end of this document.
